Why does RadPad charge me to pay my rent?

We really wish we didn't have to charge you but we do in order to cover the fees that are incurred to process your payment. We also have to cover the cost to print and mail your check each month. But hey, this means you don't have to do it right? Plus you can rest assured your rent is always paid on time (in case you're running short this month), build a payment history that will help you get a new place in the future and earn those credit card points even faster.

How does RadPad pay my landlord?

You might not know this but about 90% of all renters still pay their rent with a check. While mobile technology has made renting easier on you, a majority of landlords don't offer the option to pay your rent using a credit or debit card. We're all about making your life easier and that includes the convenience of paying your rent using your credit or debit card. Meanwhile, we've taken the tedious and old school process of writing and mailing your rent check and we're now doing it for you. We handle all the hassle so you can get back to whatever it is you want to do; like go ride a bike.

Why would I pay my rent on RadPad?

Modern advances in the 21st century, namely the smartphone, have made it so that you can do things your grandparents couldn't do, like pay your rent. Unless you're keeping it old school, which is fine by us, you can finally retire that old checkbook you're using and pay your rent from your phone (or website).

Will my landlord accept my rent payment if it comes from RadPad?

Yes, so long as your landlord does not have a clause in your lease agreement stating that they do not accept third party checks, you are good to go! They want their rent money and we make sure they get it (consistently and on time).

Is there a way for me to track my rent payment?

Yes. You're always in control of your rent payment. Just like ordering from Amazon or shipping a package with UPS, after you set up your rent payment you'll be able to follow every step of the process. To check your rent status just login to RadPad and click My Rent.

My landlord says he didn't get my rent!

Screwing up your rent is something we focus most of our time making sure we don't do. Here are a couple of ways to see what happened: 1. Please login to RadPad, go to 'My Rent' and verify that we successfully charged your card and that your check shows it was sent. If it was sent, please be aware it can take 1-4 days for the US Postal Service to deliver your rent check. 2. For the majority of landlords and lease agreements, you have a three-day grace period as long as the check was mailed before the due date. If your check hasn't arrived within five days of the due date you specified, please contact us by logging in and clicking 'Payment Help' in 'My Rents' section.

Why does it say my payment is pending?

When you sign up and create your payment on RadPad we do some stuff in the background to prevent fraud and that includes verifying some of your information. Sometimes it takes us a few hours or a couple of days to complete the verification. We go through this additional verification to protect you and the integrity of RadPad's marketplace. Our team will let you know as soon as we approve your rent payment, which typically happens within 48 hours of starting to pay your rent on RadPad.

How does RadPad protect my personal information?

Security is incredibly important to us. Whether you are paying from our mobile application or our website, we use sophisticated security measures to make sure your confidential information is secure and encrypted. RadPad does not store any of your financial information on any of our servers. We encrypt all of your payment details as they are passed to our payment processor.

I requested a refund. Now what?

As soon as we receive your request, we will issue a refund so long as your rent payment has not already been received by your landlord. Because of how the payment industry works, it may take 2 - 5 business days after we issue you a refund before you see it credited back to your account. There is nothing we can do to speed this process up, even though we try our hardest. We'll notify you as soon as the refund is initiated.

What type of credit cards do you accept?

RadPad accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express & Apple Pay credit and debit cards.

Why is my PayPal debit card not working?

We accept PayPal debit cards! PayPal works a little differently than most traditional debit cards. Before setting up a payment, please check that your bank account is properly linked to your PayPal account and that you have your settings enabled so that it may withdraw directly from your bank account. If you do not wish to do that, please make sure you have transferred enough money into your PayPal account to cover your rent payment for the month.

If you enter all of your information into Pay with RadPad and the debit card shows as a credit card, please email [email protected] and we will fix that issue on the backend within 24 hours.

Does RadPad accept Apple Pay?

Yes! RadPad accepts Apple Pay through our mobile app.

How much does this cost?

{{preferences.debit_fee['4999'] | currency}} if your rent is less than $5,000 or a flat {{preferences.debit_fee['10000'] | currency}} if the rent is greater than $5,000. Credit cards are a flat {{preferences.credit_fee}}% per transaction.

Can I use two different cards to pay my rent?

Currently, you can only use one card to pay your rent. We don't have the capability to allow split payments, yet. You can always update the card you want to use every month in case you want to use a debit card this month and a credit card next month.

My landlord doesn’t use RadPad. Can I still Pay with RadPad?

Absolutely. RadPad does not require your landlord to be signed up to use RadPad. We send your landlord a check on your behalf every month so you don’t have to.

Why is my American Express debit card being charged a credit card fee to process it?

American Express debit cards are not treated like traditional Visa and MasterCard debit cards so they are not subject to the Durbin Amendment, which sharply lowered debit card interchange fees. Because Amex cards are exempt from the Durbin Amendment, they are treated just like a credit card. Don’t blame us, blame the politicians.

If I have a roommate can we pay rent together on RadPad?

Yes! RadPad makes it easy for roommates to sign up individually and link their accounts together. Once linked together, each roommate is able to see each others share of the rent and due date.

Will my roommate be able to see my credit or debit information?

No. Your payment details are hidden and can’t be seen or changed by your roommates. Only you have access to see and modify your payment details.

How does RadPad pay our landlord if we pay together?

When you pay with roommates, we send one payment to your landlord for the total amount being paid by all roommates. We include the name and phone number of each renter who successfully pays with the payment.

Will RadPad send my landlord an IRS form 1099 if I pay my rent through RadPad?

No. We will not send your landlord a 1099.

Can I make multiple rent payments to my landlord every month?

No you can't. You can only make one rent payment per month. The reason why you can't make multiple payments every month is because a few bad people tried to use stolen credit cards to rush payments through RadPad, spoiling it for all the really good, honest people like you.

I received a notification that my card was declined, but I have enough money in my account and my rent is due! What do I do?

Your bank or credit card company has probably declined the charge due to the transaction amount (Banks regularly do this to protect you when a transaction is much higher than normal). If you do have enough cash in your account and enough credit on your card, give your bank or card company a call and inform them that you did authorize a charge from RadPad in the amount we attempted to charge you. Once they release the hold we will be able to successfully process a payment on your card. We recommend giving us a heads up after you've called your bank so we can retry your card. Just reply directly to the email we sent you.

Lastly, if you are using a debit card and you receive direct deposit from your employer, make sure that the funds have cleared your account and are not “pending.” Once your paycheck has cleared, reply to our email and we will re-run the card for you.

Can I pay my Mortgage, Utilities, Cable, Nanny, etc. with RadPad?

Unfortunately no you can’t. We’re only set up to process and pay verified rent payments. Please don’t set up a non-rent payment because it won’t be approved.

Is my card going to be charged for a cash advance if I use Pay with RadPad?

Absolutely not. Your card is charged as a standard debit or credit card transaction just like it would if you used it at the grocery store, the movies or went shopping at the mall.

I am using RadPad on my desktop computer and the map's not loading and listings aren't showing up. What's going on?

Why can’t I pay my rent on the day it is due?

RadPad needs four business days to get your rent payment to your landlord by the due date. This ensures that your rent is always paid on time, or it’ll be covered under our Rent Guarantee. We will always send you a push & email notification the day before we charge your card so there’s never a surprise.

How do I stop a rent payment?

If for whatever reason you ever need to stop an upcoming rent payment, just log in to your account and select ‘My Rent’ from the menu. A ‘Stop payment’ button will appear under your upcoming payment information.

If you have a payment that is already in progress, meaning we’ve charged your card already for that month's rent, you can not stop the payment. If you need us to stop the payment after we’ve already charged you, please email us at [email protected] so we can help you.
